Birrieria Y Taqeria Los Tecos: Authentic Mexican Comfort Food in Denver

Hearty Mexican comfort food next door to the Mexican market. We had chorizo tacos and a birria burrito with consome. It was delicious but a very heavy meal, especially the burrito which had tons of mild cheese in it. It was served on wax paper which fell apart quickly under all of the grease and juice of this meal. The birria and consome itself were really tasty, it was very savory, juicy, a bit salty, and had some nice warming flavors. Chips and salsa at the table too, I appreciated the spiciness of the salsas. Overall a yummy meal if this is the kind of food you're looking for. Lot of fried and cheesy meals on the menu. A bit on the pricy side. Good music playing. Slow but good service. Plenty of parking.

My wife and I stopped here after shopping at the market next door. Place was packed when we went in and it was only 11am. We ordered 3 birria tacos each and they came with 3 different salsas which were all spicy but tasty. We splurged and tried the Birria Nacos and they were cheesy, meaty and to die for. We also tried the infamous "Birria Ramen" and that sent our meal to another level. Service was on point and really friendly. If I could give them 10 stars we would. Definitely coming back for sure. Highly recommend to anyone wanting tasty birria.

The Birria tacos were good, not incredible. They lacked much queso and flavor. The consome was lacking chili flavor and I'm more of a fan of the rich red chile Birria that colors the tortilla. Prices per value was not there. It was quite expensive for 4 Birria tacos. The nachos were more on point.

While the birria tacos were delicious, the service was okay. My friends and I shared a couple of different dishes like the birria tacos, regular asada tacos and birria ramen. The ramen was really good and had a good flavor. I would try the restaurant again; however I wish they had spicier salsa as well. The restaurant was also clean. You should also know you have to ask for your check and pay at the front.

This place is not bring your own napkin, like the past reviewer said. This is a family owned business. They take social distancing seriously, so tables are marked where you cannot sit, & sit yourself on the open seating. Birria tacos were fantastic, especially combined with the consomme. Dip the tacos in this sauce!! Coming from a Latina woman, I look forward to returning! Full bar. Horchata is from tap, so if you're looking for fresh, this isn't the place for that specific drink, FYI.
